The folding wheel was originally conceptualized as a folding bicycle wheel by Duncan Fitzsimmons when he was a graduate student at the Royal College of Arts in London. After receiving public attention and calls from the wheelchair community telling him that this concept would be invaluable to wheelchair users, he redesigned it as a wheelchair wheel.
Maddak further developed the wheel after careful consultation with the community, and are happy to introduce MORPH™ Wheels–the world’s first ever foldable wheelchair wheel!

"I have always believed that my being wheelchair-bound has nothing to do with what I am able to accomplish in life; whether it be sports-related or an everyday task. Maddak has a proven track record of developing innovations that are specifically designed to improve the lives of the disability community. Their most recent innovation, Morph Wheels, make traveling exponentially easier for me."

"I'm really excited about my new Morph Wheels. Not only are they cool looking wheels, they also are very easy and convenient to fold. They fit easily into the trunk of my friend's car and worked out great on my recent trip to Arizona. The solid tires are also easier to push." - Steve Ferreira, Founder Beyond Disabilities."

The metal spoke is another safety feature that is built into the design of the wheel. It provides extra strength and stability to the wheel. It needs to be locked into place before the axle can be inserted through the hub of the wheel.
